Happy Birthday Granny!

Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday dear Granny!
Happy Birthday to You!

We love you Granny! Happy Birthday!

We missed Pop Layman's Birthday back on June 3rd,
and Mommy's on June 10th!

Most Valuable Player

June 7th was Camden's last T-Ball Game...forever.Next year, he'll play Rookie ball which will be a major step-up, with all balls being pitched by a pitching machine. He'll be fine...but I honestly cannot believe how quickly these last three years of T-Ball went by.

We started the first year in 2005 with Camden being very skittish and apprehensive of the game, yet still wanting to play. Although we spent most of the game complaining and whining about it. Last year was better, still a little whiny but much better. This year, phenomonal. Played every game with no complaints.

Most of you know that TD was the head coach every year and every year they were the Yankees. After handing out trophies provided by the league to each player, we headed to the car to get ready to go.

TD called Camden to come over under the picnic shelter because he had something for him. TD had an old softball trophy that he had won years ago that he had fixed up for Camden. He ordered a brass nameplate with the following inscribed: Camden Layman, 2008 Yankees T-Ball Most Valuable Player.

Camden was so excited ... and Mommy shed a few tears.

Snow!

I know I'm really far behind on this blog, so my goal is to try to catch up with some old pictures and stories.

Camden and Daddy were both dying to get out and play in the snow...they had a few snowball fights and then built an awesome snowman.

Mommy's Boys

TD snapped this pic of the boys one morning a few weeks ago before school. We had dressed both of them and they were waiting to leave for school and preschool. I normally would take Zachary to preschool and TD would put Camden on the bus....
They both decided to snuggle...

I Want BoBo Now!

Tuesday at Preschool Zachary was bit by another child...we were all discussing it that evening and telling Zachary that if it happens again, he needs to defend himself....yell no, push the child away, etc. Just basically to stand up for himself when those things happen.

Camden says: "Well, I'll be at preschool on Wednesday and if it happens again, you tell them to come get me...I'll take care of it."
So Wednesday morning, I took the kids in and I'm discussing the situation with Miss Keri (Zach's teacher), when Camden speaks up and says: "If Zach gets bit today, you are to come get me." Keri and I just smiled at each other and that was it.

When I picked the boys up yesterday afternoon...yep, you guessed it, Zachary was bit again...by a different child. Miss Keri told me that he pushed the child down, looked up at her and said "I Want BoBo Now!" She comforted him and he was fine, but the best part comes later.

Zachary and I go out to the playground to get Camden and Zachary runs up to Camden, and Cam looks down at him and the first thing he says is: "Did you get bit today?"

Zachary says "Yes." And then shows him his boo-boo.

Camden turns around and yells across the playground (with his hands on his hips) to me "Did you know about this? They were SUPPOSED to come get me." Then walks toward the door holding Zach's hand, looks up at me and says "I am not happy about this."

Bless his heart, Camden was so mad that Zach finally said "It okay Bobo, I okay."

I Hope You Dance...

Today was Cam's last day of kindergarten.
This picture was taken the first day of school
in August 2007.

This song always makes me think of Camden and Zachary:

I Hope You Dance, by Leann Womack
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes,
I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance (Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance (Rolling us along)
I hope you dance (Tell me who)
I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes,
I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance

Camden, Mommy and Daddy love you so much.
You are growing up to be such a handsome young man.
We are both very proud of you.
You are the best big brother; you treat Zachary so good.
He really looks up to you.

Always remember to do your best
and you'll never be disappointed.

Go To Sleep BoBo!

So last night Camden and Zachary were both fighting sleep terribly. Cam was upstairs in his bed and had gotten up a few times for various different things. After the third or forth trip to the top of the steps, Zachary looked up from the couch and said:

"Get in the bed now BoBo!"

He is so used to hearing us tell Camden that over and over every night that he just knew exactly what to say. To top it off, Zach was sitting in TD's "spot" on the couch, so I guess he thought he was in charge.

Cam kept trying to speak and each time Zach responded with:

"Go to sleep now, BoBo!"

Earlier in the evening, Camden was getting dressed for bed and put his PJ bottoms on and immediately pulls them up to almost under his armpits. He then proceeds to walk into the kitchen and says to his Daddy "Look at me, I'm Grandaddy."

The stuff that these two kids come up with kills me. I love them so much...they are my world.
